RIDE in the
wichita mountains

About the ride

This year the Friends of the Trail are excited to announce that the Tour of the Wichita's will once again pass through the Fort Sill Army Post as a part of its route.

All routes will begin in the parking lot of the Regency Square Shopping Center (Atwood's) located at 1820 NW 52nd Street, and then head north on NW 52nd Street and through the 52nd Street gate and onto Fort Sill.

You will not need to stop at the gate or get a visitor pass to access the facility, but you will need to wear the wrist band that matches your route color and follow the route.

Once on post, you will immediately see why we love riding these routes; within a mile or so of the start you will be enjoying the beauty and terrain of the Wichita Mountains.  The 15 and 30 mile routes will remain on post until they head back out the 52nd Street gate; while the 52 and 66 mile routes will leave post on Hwy 115 and head north into the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge, re-entering Fort Sill at the LETRA gate. Once again, your wrist band is all that is need to pass through that gate.

The Friends of the Trail are very appreciative of Fort Sill leadership providing the necessary security to provide special event access to these routes for our riders.  Within the Lawton Fort Sill community, cooperation is truly an action word!!

I always enjoy this ride.  It is one of my favorites and in my favorite part of the state to ride.  Sure miss the old route through the base and on out through the west side of the base.I did the 26 mile route this year....The rest stops were excellent.  Good choice of food, drink, and plenty of help.  The church provided a great staging facility.  Appreciated the coffee pre-ride.  Good support at the beginning of the ride also.  I needed a last minute adjustment and Terry's folks were on hand. Love the shirt!

Thank you very much for putting on a great ride!!!  I really enjoyed myself!!  The route was awesome.  The rest stops were well staffed and had plenty of refreshments!!   Can't wait until next year!!!

Hey guys!
This was my first bike race and I've got to say you guys have me hooked! Thanks so much for an awesome event. Every volunteer I encountered was incredibly helpful and friendly. The aid stations were stocked with awesome stuff, I especially loved the peeled oranges and cuties.
...Thanks again!
